Crochet daffodil cushion designed by @PippaPatterns

I bought you flowers I said
It’s Daffodil Day 1998.
No-one has ever bought me flowers
He said wistfully.
I sighed
No chance to rewrite history now
No time for regrets I thought
as I turned to arrange the flowers in a vase.
I don’t have the answers I said
But I can promise you
We will fight this disease together
As we traverse into the unknown.

A seismic pause

When two thought processes
Join naturally as one.
Truth was there was no end in sight
to the terrifying abyss
Pain filled endless days of waiting
We endured together but so separate
Me driven further to the outer
And he moving closer to his maker.
The frilly blooms
Gave us a brief sunny moment
Of hope and a future together
We savoured the moments
Of borrowed time.

Daffodil Day always reminds me of this day so many moons ago now.
You never forget those whom you have loved and lost, but a day like today is a time to reflect and appreciate a special person loved by so many.

Cheeky, witty, full of life. Sunny as any golden daffodil!
That was Don.
